Guiyang Symphony performs Spartacus by Khachaturian

Caucassian night was conducted by MD Zhang Guoyong

Guiyang Symphony Orchestra, the leading privately run orchestra in southwest China now celebrating its 15th anniversary, presented a programme of Caucasian music last night at its home venue, Guiyang Grand Theatre.

Under the baton of Zhang Guoyong—who has served as the orchestra’s music director for the past eight years—the concert featured Khachaturian’s Violin Concerto, performed by concertmaster Zhang Jinru as soloist, followed by two orchestral suites from Khachaturian’s ballet Spartacus. The evening opened with The Enchanted Lake by Anatoly Lyadov.

Zhang Guoyong and the Guiyang Symphony Orchestra are set to embark on a European tour from late August through early September.

Filmed and recorded on July 18, 2025.
