Founded in 1999 in Shanghai by Rudolph Tang, KLASSIKOM is a news network dedicated to classical music and opera.

Initially established as a website with content hosted on servers in mainland China, it has also contributed news to leading Chinese publications, including the house magazine of the Shanghai Oriental Art Center (SHOAC), Opera (published by the Shanghai Opera House), and Music Lover magazine.

Rudolph and the original KLASSIKOM tech team launched revamped site in 2005

In 2017, KLASSIKOM's server was blocked by the internet regulators following a series of reports on the cancellation of high-profile Korean musicians amid tensions over THAAD between China and South Korea. In response, KLASSIKOM in English was taken down and had to expand its reach to social media platforms not subject to censorship in China while maintaining its core focus on unbiased news services.

Now available in both Chinese and English, KLASSIKOM provides news coverage, press handling and distributes video content across major social media platforms.

Services of KLASSIKOM in Chinese are available on WeChat, Weibo, Bilibili, Red Note and Zhihu. The English services are available on Blogspot, Facebook, X, Bluesky, YouTube, Threads, Podcast, and Substack.
